Introduction to Walk to Emmaus, created by The Upperroom

Puget Sound Walk to Emmaus (PSWTE) is a lay-person led, non-profit, Christ-centered organization enabling three-day retreats for others to experience the Love of Jesus Christ as they never have before.

Walk to Emmaus celebrates the diversity of many denominations through the unity of the risen Jesus Christ. All Christians are welcome and encouraged to participate.

PSWTE is one of many such organizations around the world supported by The Upper Room of the United Methodist Church General Board of Discipleship.

The Gospel of St. Luke relates the story of the risen Christ appearing to two who were walking along the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus (Luke 24: 13-35). This story provides the image for Emmaus, an Upper Room program that calls for and renews Christian discipleship.

PSWTE is dedicated to:

  • providing an environment in which any Christian may experience a new or renewed encounter with the living and personal God, reappraise priorities, and make a deeper commitment to Christian discipleship.
  • providing nurture, support, and fellowship of a New Testament Christian community by way of worship, instruction, small-group sharing, spiritual guidance, and selfless service, throughout the Fourth Day.
  • equipping Christians to be effective and intentional about proclaiming the gospel of Christ and living a Christian life daily in their homes, churches, places of work, and community.
  • PSWTE By Laws
