WTE Gazette

Help PSWTE reduce costs! If you are currently receiving the Gazette via regular mail and would like to receive it via email, please send a request to gazette@pswte.com. You will receive a link to a page you can download the Gazette each time; it won't be a big file that will clog your email! We have been able to significantly reduce the over 2500 Gazette's which had been being produced every quarter (by both stopping to send to those that did not respond and those requesting emails.) Thank you for your help in controlling our costs.

New Pilgrim Application Form

Use the New WTE Pilgrim Application Form

PSWTE has improved the pilgrim application form. It is now available on the website and is in cleaner print and one page for each applicant. We have also added a line to the information obtained from each pilgrim. We now ask the pilgrim if they have been baptized.

This is important for various reasons 1) Baptism is not a part of the weekend script and , 2) the answer will allow us to be better prepared to address the needs of each pilgrim. We have had walks where Baptism was performed for a pilgrim and that has been a blessing in each case. But a pilgrim will be better prepared if they have already been baptized before attending a weekend. Not being baptized will not necessarily prevent them from attending but it will give their pastor more information to consider.

So get your forms on the website and do away with any of the old reproduced forms. Thank you!

Lay Director Nominations

Use either of these forms to nominate Lay Directors:      (PDF Version to print)      (Word Version to save/email)

All individuals elected to leadership positions in the Walk to Emmaus are first nominated by a community member or the Nominations Committee of the Board. The Nominations Committee is committed to using nominations, that meet required criteria, from the community first and will supplement, as needed, nominations from the Committee.

Nominations and elections are held at least six months prior to the year being considered. If you have any questions about the nominations process, feel free to ask any Board member.

Pre-walk needs your help!

As Pre-Walk Coordinator it is my job to schedule pilgrims for the upcoming walks. It would help a great deal and also speed up the process if you, as sponsors, would:

  • Make sure the application is readable (printing is best).

  • Ensure all the necessary information is included, especially the signature of the pilgrims pastor.

  • Include an email address as well a phone number where we can reach you. Since we all lead such busy lives it is sometimes easier to make contact through email.

  • Specify the month and year of the walk you want your pilgrim to attend. The application only asks you to choose - spring, summer, fall or winter. This gets confusing when there are two walks in the same season.

  • If you are sponsoring a pilgrim who is married but their spouse is not attending you must also send a letter from the pilgrim's pastor giving his/her okay to attend. Since there are always more women than men attending the walk only a specific number of single women can be placed on a combined walk. It is for this reason that a single women's walk scheduled each year.

A pilgrim will not be placed on a walk until I receive their application and confirm that all the necessary information is included (no over the phone placements). You will then receive a letter of confirmation from me within 1 to 2 weeks. If you do not receive this letter, please contact me. Applications may be mailed directly to me or the Walk to Emmaus post office box (P.O. Box 576, Lake Stevens, WA 98258). If you need my address or have any questions you can email me at: or call (360) 748-7167.

Thank you for your help.

Yours in Christ,
Marilynn Chintella

A Word About Palanca …

What pieces of palanca are you most attracted to when you look in your palanca bag? Is it the mass produced scrolls tied with ribbon, the 8-1/2 x 11 tri-folded paper, sealed with a sticker, or the envelope with the appearance of a personal note? The object of palanca is not to fill the bags but to give words of encouragement. Why not search for encouragement in God's Word instead of the Internet? Some of the stories shared in those scrolls and 8-1/2 x 11 tri-folds would be even more meaningful if they had a personal note of encouragement from you. Remember, all notes should focus on God's grace and your personal encouragement and not become a way to promote your theological beliefs.

May God bless you for your service,
Jeannie Dayton
